Commercial Excavation Services for Builders and Property Managers in Northern New York
The Excavation Sub That Shows Up and Keeps the Schedule
G&G Excavation works as an excavation and site work subcontractor for general contractors, builders, and property managers across Jefferson County and the surrounding region. We handle site prep, foundation excavation, rough grading, drainage, trenching, parking lot work, and land clearing on commercial projects of all sizes. We own our fleet, we coordinate with your other trades, and we provide certificates of insurance before work starts.
If you have worked with excavation subs who disappear mid-project, show up with the wrong equipment, or create problems for your schedule, we understand the frustration. We run sequenced commercial jobs and keep the site organized between phases.
Commercial Services We Provide
Commercial Site Preparation and Grading
New commercial construction starts with the site: clearing, rough grading, foundation excavation, subgrade compaction, and final grade. We work from the site plan, grade to the tolerances the project engineer requires, and coordinate the site prep scope with your foundation contractor and other trades. We handle commercial pads from small outbuildings to multi-building sites.
Foundation Excavation
Foundation digs for commercial buildings, additions, and outbuildings built to the local frost line and to the engineer’s specified bearing depth. We call Dig Safely New York 811 before any digging and coordinate with utility locates on every job. For projects with geotechnical requirements, we work to the engineer’s spec and can coordinate inspection scheduling.
Land Clearing for Commercial Sites
Clearing for commercial site pads, parking areas, access roads, and utility corridors. We clear to the edge of the project footprint, grub stumps that would interfere with the base, and haul debris. If the clearing and the site grading are both in scope, we handle them as a single mobilization.
Parking Lot Grading and Drainage
Parking areas require proper subgrade preparation, grading for drainage, and compaction to carry the load they will see. A parking lot that was not properly graded will develop drainage problems that cause pavement failure. We prepare the subgrade and establish drainage before the paving contractor arrives. We also handle drainage corrections on existing parking areas that are holding water.
Utility Trenching
Trench excavation for water, sewer, electrical, and other utility runs on commercial sites. We dig to the required depth, coordinate with the utility contractor for bedding and backfill requirements, and restore the surface after backfill. We call utility locates before any trench work and know the setback and protection requirements for active utilities.
Stormwater and Site Drainage
Commercial sites have stormwater management requirements that residential projects typically do not. We install French drains, detention swales, culverts, and drainage systems designed to meet the stormwater plan for the project. If the site plan specifies drainage infrastructure, we work to those requirements. If the project needs drainage correction that was not in the original scope, we assess the site and propose a fix.
Retaining Walls for Commercial Sites
Grade transitions on commercial sites often require retaining walls sized for the loads they will carry. We build block, stone, and structural retaining walls and install the drainage behind them. For walls requiring engineering review, we coordinate with the project engineer on design requirements before we build.
Working With Us as a Sub
We understand what general contractors and property managers need from an excavation sub:
Scheduling you can rely on
We give you a real start window and keep you posted if ground conditions or weather shift it. We do not disappear from a project.
Site coordination
We sequence around your other trades, protect work that is already done, and keep the site organized between phases.
Certificates of insurance
Available before work starts, in whatever format your project requires.
Communication
If something on site changes the plan or the cost, we tell you before we change the work.
