Land Clearing in Watertown and Northern New York

Trees, Brush, and Stumps Removed and Hauled

G&G Excavation clears residential lots, farm access lanes, build sites, and overgrown properties across Jefferson County and the surrounding region. We bring the right equipment for the job, take out what needs to come out, and haul it. When we are done, you have usable ground.

Land clearing is often the first step in a larger project: a new home, an outbuilding, a driveway, or a drainage correction. We handle the clearing as a standalone job or sequence it with the site prep and grading work that follows.

What We Clear

Trees

Removal of small and large trees, including mature hardwoods commonly found throughout Jefferson and Lewis counties. Cleared safely to prepare land for construction, farming, access roads, and property improvements.

Brush Clearing

Dense brush, saplings, invasive growth, and overgrown vegetation removed to reclaim usable land. Improves accessibility, visibility, and overall property appearance while preparing the site for future use.

Stump Removal

Stumps can be ground down or fully excavated and hauled away depending on project requirements. Eliminates obstacles that interfere with grading, foundations, driveways, landscaping, and agricultural activities.

Fence Lines

Overgrown fence rows, property boundaries, and neglected edges cleared of vegetation and debris. Restores access, improves property definition, and creates a cleaner, more manageable landscape.

Debris Removal

Logging slash, fallen timber, brush piles, and leftover debris from previous land work removed and hauled. Leaves the property clean, safe, and ready for the next phase of development.

Structure Removal

Existing sheds, small structures, old foundations, and site obstacles removed where permitted. Creates a clear work area for new construction, expansions, site preparation, or redevelopment projects.

When You Need Land Clearing

New Build Sites

Before a foundation is dug, a site pad is graded, or a driveway is cut in, the vegetation on the footprint has to come out. We clear the area, rough grade the disturbed ground, and leave a clean surface for the next phase of the build. Working with a builder or general contractor? We sequence around the rest of the trades and can coordinate access and staging with you.

Driveway and Access Roads

Cutting in a new driveway through wooded or overgrown ground requires clearing the corridor first. We clear the path, remove stumps that would interfere with the base, and prepare the subgrade before stone goes down. If we are doing both the clearing and the driveway installation, it is a single mobilization rather than two separate contractors.

Agricultural and Farm Properties

Reclaiming overgrown fields and farm lane access is common work in Lewis and Jefferson counties. We clear what has grown in, address stumps in the right-of-way, and restore the area to a condition where it can be mowed, farmed, or used for access again.

Property Improvement

Some clearing jobs are simpler: a brushy side yard, an overgrown fence line, or an area you want opened up without a larger construction project attached. We handle those too. If the job calls for a skid steer and a chainsaw rather than a full excavator mobilization, we size the crew and equipment to match.

What Happens to the Material

Trees, stumps, and brush are loaded and hauled. We do not leave debris piles on site unless the client wants material retained for their own use (firewood, for example). If you want logs kept, tell us at the estimate stage and we will plan for it.

Permits and Utility Locates

Most land clearing does not require a permit, but clearing near wetlands, waterways, or regulated areas in New York State can. Shoreline properties and areas near protected wetlands in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties have specific restrictions. If your project is near water or a mapped wetland, we will flag it at the site visit so you know what applies before work starts. We call Dig Safely New York 811 before any ground disturbance.
